About us
Since1988,people have been building their own fine electronic and bass guitars in our bright,
spacious workshop facilities on the Mediterranean island of Formentera.
Following a relaxed 2 1/2 week course, each participant builds an instrument
under expert tutelage. The intruments are renowned for their excellent playability,
attention to detail and above all that "Balearic" sound.
Working in small groups (maximum seven),
novices and advanced participants can build their dream instrument from scratch while learning
ractically all there is to know about guitarbuilding, repair and adjustment.
Thesuccess of the course design was proved by the number of participants who have booked for a
s econd or even ninth time and brought along friends.Eleven years now, this school has graduated nearly 500 enthusiastic youngsters,aged between 15 and 60. After three weeks of work in the
workshop and on the beach, all left with their own electric guitar/bass, equal in quality to that of
any off-the-peg model or even better.
Ekkehard Hoffmann,
Dipl.Ing. der Elektrotechnik und Bassist,
betrieb ein Tonstudio in Darmstardt,
gab 12 Jahre lang Drehleierbaukurse und
kam 1989 als Gitarrenbauschüler nach Formentera.
Im Jahr 1991 wurde er Lehrer bei Formentera-Guitars
und wohnt inzwischen ganzjährig auf Formentera.
Nik Huber,
gelernter Tischler, begann seine Gitarrenbauer Karriere
mit einem Kurs auf Formentera unter Ekkehards Anleitung.
Inzwischen hat er eine eigene Werkstatt und avancierte zu
einem der bekanntesten E-Gitarrenbauer Deutschlands.
Nik leitet bei Formentera Guitars einen Gitarrenbau-Spezialkurs pro Jahr.
KIKO,
das jüngste Mitglied des Lehrerkollegiums, ist eine eher haarige Erscheinung der Rasse „mile leches de Formentera“
mit extra hohem Mikro-Terrier-Anteil.
Er ist zuständig für Unterhaltung und Auflockerung des Unterrichts, außerdem bewacht er die Werkstatt,
wenn er grade Lust dazu hat.
